#TBay Cross Collaboration

The Lakehead Social Planning Council, United Way Thunder Bay and Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce are reaching out to update you on what’s been happening. As a participant in the Thunder Bay Community Cross-Sector collaboration event on November 28th, 2020, we attach the final report from the forum which outlines all of the suggested initiatives, actions and proposed next steps.

Just as we were preparing to release the report summarizing the various ideas and approaches generated at the event, and considering how we could foster continued efforts to move these initiatives forward, our community — and the world — was struck by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Understandably, your attention, our attention, our community’s attention were focused on meeting the urgent needs of those impacted by emergency health measures.

Now, as our community begins to reopen, we believe it is more important than ever that we resume our collective efforts to address issues of poverty. The pandemic disproportionately impacted the most vulnerable members of our community. The recovery and rebuilding process will require a cross-sectoral approach. Working together with all levels of government, business, community, educational institutions, frontline agencies — let’s pick up where we left off and continue to build on the most promising ideas and solutions aimed at improving lives and building a healthier, more inclusive and prosperous Thunder Bay.

We invite you to review the report with a view to identifying which activities you would like to be involved in — or in some instances, have already been actively engaged in advancing one or more initiatives. We will assist in connecting individuals who express an interest in specific solutions so that you can coordinate a meeting or start a discussion about moving forward.

Thanks again for your participation and for your commitment to this important community effort.
