Annual General Meeting 2005
211 Report
Since August 2001, when the CRTC designated “211” as
the three digit number to facilitate access to social, human and government
information, most designated Community Information Centres in Ontario have
been engaged in exploration and active planning to bring 211 to their communities.
In 2004, the 211 Steering Committee, led by the United Way of
Thunder Bay and LSPC/CIRC, met regularly to plan implementation for 211 in
our community. Numerous
funding applications have been submitted, deputations delivered, presentations
conducted, a business plan developed and now we await the results. The Committee
realizes the tremendous work ahead as it ensures that the accreditation and
certification programs are conducted, and we as the service delivery agency
will achieve the professional standards designated for the 211 service. To
date, the Committee has provided overall project phase governance, in terms
of policy adherence, financial and resource requirements, support and project
definition. As we move forward, we thank everyone who has supported and shared
the vision that 211 will create a healthier community for all of us.
We end this year of repositioning and transformation with optimism.
This last year has meant a considerable shift in refining the quality of the
CIRC information & referral
service. During the last year, a time of uncertainty and change, we met challenges
as opportunities and not obstacles. This next year will mean even more, as
we honor the elements of professionalism that will create a collaborative effort
to simply “bring people and services together”.
We acknowledge and thank the United Way of Thunder Bay for funding that supports
us in our ongoing effort to deliver high quality information & referral
services to our community.
Respectfully submitted,
Marie Klassen,
Program Manager, CIRC
